This is a homage to Gordon Perrier, formerly a teacher at the Dundas Valley School of Art who passed away in 2014. Gordon was infamous for ruthless critiques of your work in the studio, and he was almost always right. He challenged me to grow as an artist and the lessons I learned are still with me.
In one of his intensive week long courses, he came in on the first day with a bundle of sunflowers which we painted all week long as they slowly decayed. It was a difficult exercise, but here I am finding the beauty in it many years later.
