“Rural Detours” is a series of original prints that evoke a strong sense of place while paying tribute to the rich history of our local rural landscapes. Much of my inspiration is found not far from where I live while exploring the countryside, searching for the missing connections to our local heritage and rural environment. Finding myself surrounded by forgotten historic places of ancient trees, homesteads, and working farmlands, that the onslaught of progress is quickly changing. This a sampling of the ongoing theme that I've been working on since 2010. This is a sampling of works from a growing collection.
A sampling from my series of smallish linocut prints with the aim of identifying icons and bringing common places, things and characters to life. I have discovered that one of the icons I like to reveal are public statues of our historic moments. The prints are 2 colours on acid free paper, averaging between 4"x5" - 5"x7" in size and hand printed in large editions of 99 to make them accessible to the everyone.
